WW1 shrapnel ball veterans pin badge. A very unusual WW1 artefact. A German soldier injured in combat, probably by a artillery fired air burst, has kept the shrapnel ball that wounded him. Having recuperated from his injury and subsequently presented with the shrapnel ball removed from his wound, he had it jeweller mounted into a special pin for wearing in civilian clothing – quite a discussion point in the beer hall!
